GUEST POST | DIY Christmas Gifts | Blogmas Day 10

15 Sleeps until Santa!

Hello blogging fans! My name is Ebony Jay and I am really excited to be doing this guest post because Christmas is one of my favorite times of year but also because I know that funds can get really tight and sometimes we can't always go out and buy the most extravagant gifts for our friends and family.

So what do we do when we can't afford everyone's gift?

We make them!

In this post I am going to show you guys a few DIY Christmas gifts that you can do with items you may already have in your home or gifts that would only cost a few dollars. :) So let's get started!

The first is a studded iPhone case

This one is really easy to do and because iPhone's have become so popular there is bound to be someone on your Christmas to do list that has one and needs a case!

What you will need:
Plain iPhone case
Studs
Glue
Clear nail polish

So since this DIY is a little more crafty its really up to you how you design the case. You can make it simple or you can go all out and even add a little sparkle.

Just remember that after you are done with the case and everything is all dry add a thin layer of clear polish over the whole case. This will help keep the studs on longer (:

Next is a DIY Christmas mug.

This one is my personal favorite since I love hot beverages. I did one for my mother a few years ago and she loved it as well.

What you will need:
Plain coffee mug
Sharpie
Oven (preheat to 350)

This gift is really easy. All you have to do is create the design that you want on your mug. It can be anything you want: a picture, a quote, a joke anything really!

Then, one you are done designing all you have to do is stick your mug into the oven which has been preheated and leave it there for about 30 minutes.

This is just to set the ink so that the person you give it to won't wash off the design (:

REMEMBER: When you are taking your mug out of the oven use oven mitts because it will be hot and you do not want to burn your hands off.

Coconut milk deep conditioner

Okay this next one is very dear to my heart and if you have any curly girls in your family or a friends who is natural this is something you'll want to give them. For this conditioner you are going to need the white meat of a coconut you can buy it on vitacost.com for cheap (: this is also where I buy mine!

So once you have your coconut meat you will need:
A large bowl
Towel (one you do not mind staining)
Olive oil
Strainer

In order to get the coconut milk from the meat of the coconut take a handful of meat and place it in the towel, wrap it up and over the bowl wring the towel out. The milk inside the coconut meat will be extracted.

Continue doing this until all of the milk has been extracted then throw the dry meat away.

Now you should have a bowl of coconut milk all you want to do is pour it through a strained to make sure none of the coconut meat got into the mixture. Then add about a cup full of olive oil to the mixture and stir it. Put it in a nice jar and you're done!

Also if you want to skip the extraction process you can always buy the coconut milk instead (:

The last one is a sugar scrub (:

What you will need:
Sugar (brown or white)
Olive or Coconut oil
Peppermint oil (optional)

All you want to do is take your sugar and measure how much of the scrub that you want to make. Then take your olive or coconut oil and pour it into the sugar slowly while stirring. You do not want it to be oily you just want it to get soft, once it does stop adding oil. Then add a few drops of peppermint oil for scent, put it in a nice jar and you are good to go! (:
