Super Facialist Vitamin C+ Brighten Skincare Review

*This post contains PR samples gifted to me for review*

We all know that skincare is something I'm passionate about. I mean, give me a good facial scrub, cleanser or moisturiser any day of the week and it's likely we'll be best friends forever. Skincare is something that I'll never skimp on and being a beauty blogger, I love the fact that I get the opportunity to try out so many new and amazing products (and some not so great ones, but we'll try not to dwell on those). As a blogger and skincare enthusiast, my skincare collection (believe it or not) is quite sizeable and recently it's been added to yet again. This month I've been trying out some of the Vitamin C+ Brighten range from Skin Facialist by Una Brennan, a brand I'd not really heard too much about before now but have definitely started to see cropping up everywhere over the gram (you can follow me here).

The Vitamin C+ Brighten Gentle Daily Micro Polish Wash has been my go-to for a morning face wash for the past couple of weeks now and I have to say it's been nice having a scrub as part of my morning routine again. If you know me and you've been reading for a while now, you'll know there's nothing I love more than a gritty scrub and this one is literally perfect. With Vitamin C a main ingredient there's no wonder this product smells incredibly citrusy and fresh but not only that, it leaves your skin feeling refreshed too. For the past three weeks I've been using this every morning in the shower and it's really helped to wake not only my skin up but me too. The tiny biodegradable micro beads smooth effortlessly over the skin polishing as they go to unearth a more radiant and even skin tone, which although leaves your skin a little red, is perfect for first thing in the morning (or last thing at night). Having used this for a couple of weeks now I can 100%, hand on heart, say that this is a polish like no other that I've tried. Yes, lots of products claim they are miracle workers and can sort your skin out but I've never actually had a product that's worked quite as well before. You're obviously not going to see results with this straight away but after religiously using this every morning I've seen a massive improvement in my skin and my skin tone. Where I've previously had a little scarring from pesky blemishes (that I probably shouldn't have picked) my skin seems to be evening out a little and I've even noticed that spots that have been trying to make an appearance are nowhere near as big and ballsy as they have been previously. Those under the skin spots are removing themselves from my face a lot sooner and I've just noticed my skin looking a lot more radiant than it has done in previous months. Overall this is definitely something I'll be keeping in my morning skincare routine purely because it's impressed me so much. With having a newborn in the next couple of weeks I'm 100% going to be needing a refreshing morning scrub and this one wins it hands down for me!

The Dark Circles Eye cream from the Vitamin C+ Brighten range is another that I've been trying out recently and although it's been good, it's not wowed me like the Daily Micro Polish wash has. Eye creams are something I've only recently introduced into my skincare routines as I'm starting to get a little older (and think I really need them now due to the lack of sleep) but overall are something I've never really put much thought into. As far as eye creams I've tried in the past go this one is up there with some of the best in terms of formula and how it feels when I apply it, but as I mentioned before, there just doesn't seem to be anything overly special about it. My eye bags could rival those of designer ones right now and this dark circle brightening cream really doesn't seem to be doing much for them at all. I don't know if it's because my circles are too dark for even a magic potion to sort, but apart from reducing puffiness a little, I don't really see much difference. The Dark Circles Eye Cream is really light and cooling on my under eye area so I have been liking this of an evening before bed to try and reduce some of my dark circles throughout the night, but it really hasn't wowed me at all. It just doesn't brighten them as much as I thought it would and although it would take a miracle to rid me of my dark under-eye bags at the moment, I expected something a little more from a brand that has so far impressed me so much with the other product that I've tried. I have been using this for the past two and a half weeks and will continue to use it for another couple of weeks to see if it needs a little more time to start working properly (I do understand nothing disappears over night) but for now, I'm really sad I've not had the best things to say about it. One thing I will say though is that it does leave my eyes incredibly smooth. I usually find that when I'm over tired and have dark circles, my skin is usually more taught and irritated and this eye cream has softened the area ten-fold and my eyes are definitely less itchy - I think for that alone, I'll probably keep using this alongside another eye cream (which i love for reducing my dark circles) to create the perfect duo for my under-eyes!

Have you ever tried any Super Facialist products before? What do you think of the two I've mentioned above? I'd love to know your thoughts in the comments.

  1. This face wash sounds great! Might be a good alternative for my Yes to Grapefruit daily facial scrub, they sound very similar! Love your photography! xx
