Beauty | Everyday Summer Makeup

Summer in Britain usually means either of two things; it's still raining or it's an absolute scorcher. This week is set to be one of the latter with highs of 30 degrees Celsius predicted in my area and so makeup for me is definitely going to be at its minimum. There is definitely nothing worse than stepping out into the hottest of hot heats with a full face of makeup (not that I'm a regular fan of liquid foundations anyway, but still even powder can be too much on a day like that). This next week is going to be a week of summer makeup and so I thought I'd show you my everyday summer makeup look! I've recently purchased The Body Shop's InstaBlur Primer and have absolutely fallen in love with it. Along with also purchasing Bare Minerals Complexion Rescue, I've found the perfect base for my Everyday Summer look. I think I'll do a full review on both soon but the Complexion Rescue is definitely the perfect light coverage for keeping my freckles on point and covering my slightly patchy skin. I've also been loving my Hi Impact brow palette* for powder-only brow coverage and my Clarins Instant Light Lip Balm perfector* in My Pink for a sweep of glossy, sheer colour on my lips. For me it's all about keeping it simple on the hottest Summer days and I think this makeup look does wonders!

What is your go-to style for an everyday summer look? Let me know in the comments what your favourite Summer products are!

Lifestyle | June Favourites

It's been a while since I've done a favourites post and I have to be honest with you, this month I haven't been loving all too much.. So I've decided that instead of skipping out on yet another favourites post I'd post the 3 things that I have been favouriting in the month of June. First up is Nip+Fab Body Shimmer Leg Fix* a 'golden hydra-cream moisturiser for luminous legs' and boy oh boy do I love this product. I haven't tried too many things from Nip+Fab before now, but the ones that I have have always been an instant hit with me. This leg moisturiser has a gorgeous golden shimmer to it and when out in the sun especially, you can see a real gleam on my pins. I really love how this is super hydrating (and I mean super), my skin drinks this up really well and my legs are always left amazingly soft all day long. I love this for every day use once I'm out of the shower, but especially when I've got imperfections on my legs. The golden shimmer really works wonders on masking them and making my legs look just that little bit better.

Next out of my oh so many favourites this month is the Dr PawPaw Original balm*. This little lady (yes my balm is a 'she') has un-chapped my lips and softened my cuticles like a dream over this past week. I didn't think I would ever find a product that would get my lips feeling baby soft again, but this one has done it. This Dr PawPaw Original balm is a multi-tasking (see why it's a 'she' now?) balm which can be used as a lip balm, a cuticle balm and just as a general skin and hair balm. I've been using this as I've mentioned on my lips and my cuticles, but I gaurntee that this baby can probably work way more miracles. I really like how the tube applicator is just like that of a lipgloss tube, slightly tapered at one end for easy application, it definitely helps with applying to cuticles too. It's a great waxy-balm of which a little really does go a very long way.  I'm definitely going to be getting my hands on one of the full size tubes next!

The last favourite of June is this book 'Dream a Little Dream' by Giovanna Fletcher. Now you all know that I am a huge McFly fan, so when I picked up Giovanna's first boo (Billy and Me) I was all about the fact that she was married to Tom, however fast forward a few years and Gi has definitely become one of my favourite authors and even though this book has not even been out a week yet, I'm already craving lots more from the lady! Come On Gi, release more! Dream a Little Dream (without giving too much away) is a lovely book written from the perspective of protagonist Sarah who is still battling through the woes of a breakup with her ex, who happens to still be part of her close knit friendship group - along with his new girlfriend, the one he dumped her for! Over the course of the book many things happen that turn Sarah's life around and I really do mean it when I say that I could not put this book down. I'm a massive book worm, but recently nothing's been quite grabbing me like this has! I actually stayed up reading to way gone my bed time last night to finish this as I just could not put it down. If you're a fan of girly books or a fan of any of Giovanna's other books, you'll absolutely love this one! Definitely a must read ladies!

So that's it - a short but sweet roundup of my three 'out there' favourites this month! Hopefully I'll have more to add to the basket next time, but I really hope this gets you all interested in some of the things I've mentioned either way! What were your favourites this month? Leave a link in the comments to any of your posts / videos!

Lifestyle | Moving to Manchester and Home Style Lusting

A short one today but I'm not sure if many of you know but within the first week of September I'll be upping roots and moving my life to Manchester with Jordan (my boyfriend, for those of you who aren't hardcore BekyLou readers). It's now getting to that stage where I am rather excited for the process and as we have started looking at flats in the city, I thought it was about time to tell you all what's been going on with me recently. I know it sounds absolutely crazy but when I got together with Jordan 8 months ago we knew we were going to be in this for the long haul and knowing that after the first year of his graduate placement he'd be moving back up north, within the first month or two of being together he asked me to move with him. Fast forward six months from that date and I have a new job sat ready for me to move and Jordan is all set up with his second year placement too. I can honestly say that I never thought I'd be leaving my little home town in Wiltshire to move to a big city so far away but here I am and I am really excited now. If any of you know of any great locations in Manchester or would like to ever meet up, please leave a message in the comments, I literally know no one in Manchester and would love to meet some new people!

Of course, with moving comes buying lots of lovely homely bits and bobs, for a self-proclaimed shopaholic like myself this is the thing I'm most excited about at the moment! Below is my lust list of all cutesy home pieces I can't wait to get my hands on! I think I can see a neutral / rose gold theme running through my new flat - I just need to find one now so that I can start buying all of these beaut things!

Beauty | Hi Impact Brows Palette

Brows, brows, brows, brows, brows! The word's starting to look funny now right? Like it's not a real word? Well that's how my face feels when I haven't done my brows properly in my makeup routine. I have a fairly round face (as my lovely boyfriend often likes to point out - thanks babe) and so my eyebrows are my go-to for a strongly framed face along with a splash of contour. I've settled with one or two brow products for a while now, my favourites being part of the Benefit team, however ever since this Hi Impact Brows Palette* dropped onto my door step I have literally been obsessed. I'm not usually a powder girl when it comes to my brows, I find that coloured setting gels and brow 'mascaras' are my go-to products as my brows are naturally quite dark but since using this palette my mind has changed completely. This Hi Impact Brows palette has four fairly different coloured powders from blonde, light brown and then a kind of auburn-y chestnut brown to finally a deep dark brown. They are all perfect to blend and work together for the colour you need too, just look at my before and after photos below - this palette works miracles.

Beauty | LUSH Haul!

Some of you may know that a couple of weeks ago I took a trip to London and headed to the LUSH Oxford street store and of course I just could not come away with empty hands! An hour and a half after stepping foot into the monstrous shop and I cam away with around about £100 worth of products! Naughty!! In honour of me now being very poor for the rest of the month, I thought I'd show you all what I bought! Obviously some things below are Oxford Street Exclusives so I haven't been able to link them - Sorry!

Rehab Shampoo - My All time favourite shampoo for restoring my hair and scalp. I have a burnt scalp (from an incident when I was younger) and this stuff calms it down to no end! If I hadn't had to carry this around all day I would've got the litre bottle!

Comforter Shower Cream (Oxford Street Exclusive) - The most gorgeous smelling liquid ever, I just could not say no to this. However after using it a couple of times I'm not a fan of how runny the 'cream' is and would prefer this as a shower gel!

9 to 5 Cleansing Lotion - Honestly regret picking this up (and glad I got a small one), this does absolutely nothing for me and I kinda really don't like it.

Intergalactic Bath Bomb (Oxford Street Exclusive) - I haven't tried this one yet but I am so excited to!

The Experimenter Bath Bomb (Oxford Street Exclusive) - a colour explosion in your bath that leaves your bath water a lilac shimmer without the annoying glitter to get rid of! My favourite bath bomb so far!

Pink Flamingo Bubble Wand (Oxford Street Exclusive) - The most gorgeous smelling bubble bar ever, a great contender for the Snow Fairy bubble bar!

The Comforter Bubble Bar - The classic favourite, an all time go-to for me everytime

May Day Bath bomb (Oxford Street Exclusive) - Made for their animal cruelty march this is such a calming and sweet smelling bomb with a cute note inside.

Sakura bath bomb - another of my fave scents, haven't tried this one out yet, but come on it's pink so it's an instant love!

Avobath Bath Bomb - An Avocado and Lemon Grass relaxing bath bomb perfect for an after bootcamp pamper!

Dragons Egg Bath Bomb - The coolest bath bomb ever but my sister nabbed it before I could use it!

Twilight Bath Bomb - A calming Lavender Bath bomb perfect for relaxing before a long sleep

Butterball bath bomb - As you can see I'm slightly in love with this one, I love the buttery feel against my skin and how utterly smooth it makes my body feel afterwards!

Think Pink bath bomb - the cutest thing ever!

Ickle Baby Bot - another lavender bath bomb for before bath, this cutie brings out the childish side in me!

What are your favourite LUSH products? Is there anything else you would have gotten in the LUSH Oxford Street store? Let me know in the comments for when I next go back!

Beauty | Summer Starts With Skincare

If there is  one thing I have never been good at it's looking after my skin in the summer. Yeah, I manage to keep up with my usual skincare routine but when it comes to remembering my skin protection, that's another story. My current bright red chest is definitely proof of that - oops! This year Clarins have made sure that I am well in the know with keeping myself sun safe and I thought I'd share some of their tips and products with you! I definitely could have done with these the other day at Thorpe Park!

Clarins Sun Wrinkle Control Cream for Face UVA/UVB 50+* | £19.50 | Link

When it comes to skincare I am 100% positive that it is majorly important to take care of your face when in the sun, more so than anywhere else on your body. When I burn, I burn good and having a peeling face is NOT a good look. The Clarins Sun Wrinkle Control Cream for the face is the perfect sun protection for the delicate areas and with UVA and UVB protection of 15, 30 and 50+ they've got a cream set for everyone. As you can see, I've chosen the 50+ cream, this is because I have super sensitive skin and anything but 50+ just does not work for me. We're talking red nose, forehead and serious pain here! With this Sun Cream for face I've been applying it like a normal moisturiser in the morning before applying my usual face of makeup. Unlike a lot of suncreams, I've found that this one  easily sinks into the skin and doesn't leave any of those annoying white streaks. I actually think for that reason, this is one of the best I've tried so far - looking like a snow man before heading into the sun is not a good look for anyone. For protection itself I've spent a full day in the sun with this on underneath makeup and I haven't noticed any burning - obviously I'm going to have to try this again when my current burn disappears, but it's nice knowing I haven't burnt on top of burn! I also really like that this is a 'Wrinkle Control Cream' which means that it has anti-ageing and sun spot protection too.

Clarins Sun Care Milk-Lotion Spray UVA/UVB 50+* | £19.50 | Link

I have to admit that I'm not a sun cream kinda girl. Looking after my face, yes, but when it comes to the rest of my body, no matter how much I know I burn, I hate the process of applying sun lotion before I go anywhere.  Spray bottles in the past have been my favourite kind of application, however normally I find that they lack in a full coverage. The Clarins Sun Care Milk-Lotion Spray has been like a breath of fresh air this past week as not only does it have the handy spray function that is mess free and easy to apply, it also pumps out a decent amount of product to rub into the skin. I really like that this has a heavier spray nozzle which ensures you still need to rub this in as usual, unlike some mist sprays which sink into the skin almost immediately and there is apparently 'no need' to spread with your hands. The Lazy girl inside of me loves that but I definitely know that this way is so much better for your skin as you know how much is being rubbed in. I've recently been applying this loads before I go out, I think the spray function makes is so much less of a chore and especially before a run, it's just so easy to remember to put it on! I haven't burnt (again) since using this Milk-lotion from Clarins and I've been absolutely loving it - I've literally not had a sun cream work this well for me in so long. 50+ is so they way forward for me! Who cares if I don't tan, fake is the way forward for healthy skin ladies! It's also such a generously sized bottle, you get a lot of product for your money which is so great considering the price of this. It's not going to be in a lot of peoples budgets, but for me, sun care is something you should consider splashing out on to protect your skin. My Nan recently had two skin cancer spots removed from her skin which were caused by endless unprotected days in the sun when she was younger and it was such a scare that I really won't be skipping on the sun lotion anytime soon!

Clarins After Sun Gel Ultra Soothing* | £20 | Link

After Sun is literally my best friend; This past week especially I've never been happier to have received a product through the post. The second this bad boy dropped onto my doorstep it was out of the box and Jordan was already rubbing it into my back. Ultra Soothing it is indeed! I've loved this Ultra Soothing After Sun from Clarins so much recently, it's helped calm my sunburn down so much and the Gel formulation just makes it that much more cooling on the skin. I don't think I've ever seen a product sink into my skin so fast before either, my skin has literally been drunk on After Sun and it's looking so much better now. I honestly could not recommend this after sun enough, I know you shouldn't really be burning your skin at all but for when you do, this baby is the one. I've tried a lot of cream after suns in the past and they just don't sink into the skin as well as this gel has - I know the price tag seems a bit hefty for some after sun, but at the end of the day this is Clarins and this is bloody good stuff!

Have you had much luck with Sun lotions in the past? These ones have definitely impressed me and I haven't been dreading applying them like I usually do! I can't wait for this dreary weekend to be over so that I can get back out in the sun safely!

Beauty | World Duty Free High End Makeup Haul

Recently I've been lucky enough to travel a bit more around the UK with work and for me this has meant using my evenings and lunch for a bit of city shopping! I think some of you may have already seen my recent Selfridges hauls (Charlotte Tilbury definitely stole my heart) but one thing I haven't shown you so far is my World Duty Free haul from when I popped up to the Glasgow office for a day. So here it is! On the way out, I was a little concerned about my liquids capacity so I only picked up one thing - literally, travelling with only a Swiss backpack and no hold luggage was the hardest thing, but on my way back home however it was a slightly different story and the below will show just how crazy I went. I've had to link to other websites below instead of WDF as you obviously can't buy online, but make sure if you're travelling abroad soon that you keep an eye out for some great deals!

My first purchase on the way out of Bristol Airport was the Limited Edition YSL Touché Eclat, I've wanted this for so long and I was so happy to get it for the reduced price of £20.80! I have been loving this product since I got it and as you can see from the photo below, I couldn't wait to get this home and photograph it! I actually love the way this highlights under my eyes and also conceals a little at the same time, perfect for that Kardashian-esque contour definition! I have to admit, after buying the MAC Prep + Prime Highlighter I do think that that one is a little more worth the money due to the slightly lower price of £18.50, but for the designer label the Touché Eclat is definitely worth the hype and I'll be keeping this for 'special' makeup days.

Next are two absolute beauts of products and when I bought these I literally had the heart face emoji on. They were complete impulse purchases and I haven't looked back since. The first product is a Chanel Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lipstick in Lousie. This is a semi-sheer hydrating nude lipstick and I am so in love with it. Forget Velvet Teddy, this has been my new favourite nude ever since I walked out of the airport back home in Bristol. It works really well with the lip liner I purchased below and as my first ever Chanel product it just makes me so happy - is that really sad? In fact it made me so happy that I actually went back to the counter a couple of minutes later and picked up a Chanel Joues Contraste Blusher. It's s o beautifully pigmented and so soft and creamy (yet still a powder) and comes with literally the softest mini brush ever. At £31 this isn't something that I'd normally splash out on but at Duty Free I managed to snap up this bad boy for an amazing £26 and so I think, although still a bit of a splurge, this was so worth while. It's the perfect peachy pink shade and works so well as a build-able blush for many of my daily makeup routines.

My next 'big' purchase was this absolutely gorgeous MAC 15 Pan Palette in Warm Neutrals . If any of you know me at all, you'll know that I have an obsession with eye shadow; I'm actually thinking of doing a palette collection post soon now that I have so many so when I managed to get this beautiful specimen of a palette I literally almost jumped for joy. In Duty Free I managed to get this £65 palette for a bargain of £54 - more that £10 off!! I don't think I've ever been so excited in my life to own something, a bargain to me is such a good feeling and I just could not pass this one up. I am a huge neutrals girl and with owning all of the Urban Decay Naked Palettes, I did at first question whether I really needed this one or not, but who was I kidding? I am so happy to have this palette in my life and all of the shades work so well together - top purchase of the trip I think!

The last two products that I picked up on my duty free trip were from Bare Minerals and they were things that I've already tried or had in the past but at such a great discounted price I just couldn't pass up on buying them. The Bare Minerals Original SPF 15 Mineral Foundation was the first product that I picked up - I hadn't actually ran out of my current BM Mineral Foundation (and still haven't two months on) but at £20 instead of £25 I just couldn't leave it there. It sounds a little silly but when it's your everyday foundation and its £5 cheaper than usual it's probably sillier to leave it behind! Finally I picked up the Marvellous Moxie Lip Liner in Liberated; an absolutely gorgeous muted nude pink which works perfectly underneath the Chanel Lipstick I also bought. Lip liners are a must for me under a lipstick and I really like the formulation of these Bare Minerals ones. The one thing I will say about this lip liner is that if you wind it up too much it does easily snap off and it's a real shame as it's really not useable once it's snapped...

I had such a great time shopping in World Duty Free and I'm not going to lie it didn't take me long at all to purchase all of these! Give a makeup addict a discounted high end beauty shop and she could spend hundreds in minutes - believe me! I really love all of these items and in the last photo above I created a nude makeup look using all of the products, surprisingly they all work so well together. Have you ever bought anything in World Duty Free? I absolutely cannot wait to get back there soon and buy more! If you have any recommendations of items for me to buy please let me know!

Beauty | Pampering for the Poorly Blogger

Last week I was not been very well at all; excuse the gory details but my nose was completely bunged up (is that a word? Now I've written it it doesn't look right), there's was snot everywhere and to top it all off my throat was been on fire. Now when I'm ill, I usually go down like a sack of shit (such a west country saying) and I get it good and proper. To feel a little bit better when I'm feeling like this I like to give myself a good pampering and in this post, I'm going to show you what I like to do in my 'poorly pamper routine'.

First off, as always is a bath. I hate baths usually but when I'm ill, there's nothing better after a long long sleep than lying in the bath and watching an episode of whatever series I'm binge watching on my laptop. For my bath on Friday, I used a Lush FUN bar to crumble in to create my bubbles and my god the pink one smells good! I'd ran out of bath bombs and bubble bar's so I picked some up in London when I visited last week! As much as I usually hate baths, it's definitely a little depressing when you go to have one and you realise your sister has used all of your supplies when she's been home from Uni.

Whilst I'm in the bath I like to wear a face mask and a hair mask. Now on Friday I used my 'Yes to Cucumbers' face mask but as that is now running out, I picked an Origins one this week in London and I love it. I love the smell of this Cucumber face mask and although with my nose being a bit blocked so that I couldn't smell it, it does leave such a cooling sensation on your face whilst it's applied. Face masks are the ultimate pamper package for me, I try and use one once a week, but when your poorly, it's the best remedy to just clean out your face and make you feel so much fresher. Lying in your pit when your unwell is the best thing ever, but sometimes having a bath or a shower and popping on a face mask can do the world of good for you.

Step number three on the pamper party for poorly girls list is a hair mask. My hair is so freaking long that most packet hair masks don't even make a dent on my hair. I literally opened a packet before my pamper bath and it didn't even cover the back of my head, let alone all of my hair! Now I'd like to start making my own hair masks, but on the Friday I simply just used the Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Conditioner; I lathered it all over my wet hair and then tied my hair into a bun on top of my head. Obviously I ignored the 3 minute part as I was in the bath watching an episode of Nashville for about half an hour, but this conditioner makes such a good hair mask and always leaves my hair feeling so smooth and silky soft!

After pampering myself with the three above steps I like to get into some fresh pyjamas and go and sit on the sofa in my kitchen. Ideally I'd get my sheets changed at this point, but when your ill and your mum isn't home to help, there's not a lot of point in using all your energy on wrestling with the duvet! Water is my best friend at this stage and drinking a couple pints throughout the afternoon always makes me feel much better before crawling back into bed for a couple more episodes of Nashville  and cheekily playing on a couple of bingo sites! I don't normally get into the habit of gambling or playing these sorts of games, but BINGO can be one of my favourites,  Especially when they give you start up funds with your first small deposit.

What do you do to pamper yourself when you're ill? Do you love a good face mask or bubble bath too?

Beauty | New Charlotte Tilbury Picks

I know it hasn't been long since I last posted about my Charlotte Tilbury collection, but a recent trip to London saw me spend just a little extra and I naughtily purchased a couple extra products. I've had my eyes on The Dolce Vita palette for quite some time now. After seeing it in a post by Megan from Thumbelina Lillie and seeing it plastered over the CT website, it's been top of the priority list, my problem with it was however, the price. Spending £38 on a palette of four shadows is a lot; especially when an Urban Decay Naked Palette has 12 shadows for the same price... However with an impending bonus for a referral at work, I thought it was the perfect opportunity to pick this gorgeous product up and finally take it home with me.

The Dolce Vita Palette is one from a range of four-shadow palettes from Charlotte Tilbury. They are (as always) gorgeously packaged and even though they only contain four shadows, they definitely make up for the designer price tag with the quality of the product. The Dolce Vita contains 4 sultry eyeshadows perfect for a day to evening look, all perfectly colour-coded to work and blend together on the eyes for a gorgeous finish. The top two shades, Prime and Enhance are perfect for day wear; with Prime (a perfect champagne nude) all across the base of the lid and Enhance (a maroon matte) blended with a fluffy brush into the crease, the eyes look perfectly sultry for a day at the office. Transferring for an evening look, Smoke (a chocolate brown) blends lovely into the outer corner with Pop (a bronzed glitter) packed onto the lid for a bit of added sparkle. I absolutely adore the versatility of this palette with each shadow also being a great stand-alone shade aside from the harmonious smokey eye it can create. I don't think I could be more in love with this palette and I cannot wait to try out more mixes and create more staple looks with this beauty.

Whilst sat at the Charlotte Tilbury counter in Selfridges I also tried out one of her brilliant K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipsticks. As you all know, her Matter Revolution lipstick that I have is one of my favourites and so walking away without one of the others was almost impossible for me. This time around I picked up Coachella Coral, a gorgeous coral lipstick that sides perfectly with The Dolce Vita Palette. I had the counter assistant apply both to me for the event I was going to that evening and they definitely complimented each other so well. Have you ever tried a Charlotte Tilbury product? Let me know in the comments.

Event | Meeting Tanya Burr with Origins

About two weeks ago I had a Facebook notification pop up on my phone saying that Origins has commented on a comment I had posted on one of their statuses. It was a competition post to meet Tanya Burr at a Meet and Greet Origins event at the John Lewis Flagship store in London. To my complete surprise, I had been one of the 50 lucky winners and so on Wednesday 27th May (hello pay day) myself and Melody made our way to London for a spot of shopping and then the event! Of course, our first stop was Lush on Oxford street - as expected we went a tad crazy (as you may see in a haul post soon) and we ended up spending a good hour and a half in there! Moving on from there we then popped down to Selfridges (I mean who can make a trip to LDN and not visit Selfridges!) and I made the courageous purchase of a gorgeous Michael Kors bag - yes, I can finally wipe that from my wish list! Next on the list was of course an obligatory trip to the Charlotte Tilbury counter and then on to John Lewis!

The event itself was set on the roof of their store, a gorgeous set up of artificial grass, lanterns, palm trees and some gorgeous pastel beach huts! We were all greeted with a gorgeous smoothie and sat down to an Origins mini masterclass where we learnt all about some of their most loved products (of course I then went over to the shop hut and just had to purchase some of them - with 10% off and a free Love Tanya book I couldn't say no). It was then that we all got to stand by as Tanya Burr took to the stage to tell us some of her best skincare top tips and to start the signing session. It was so lovely to meet her, even though it was quite brief, but I had an amazing night and cannot wait to try out the products that I picked up! I'm a huge lover of Origins anyway but have found some new products that I've been dying to try!

Click the links here to buy Love Tanya, visit Origins #quaterlifecrisis campaign (where you could win a full size Serum like I did) and also visit John Lewis web page! Have you tried Origins before or are you a fan of Tanya's? Let me know in the comment below!
