Review | Sheer Cover Studio Perfect Shade Mineral Foundation*

After hearing rave reviews about Mineral foundations, I've wanted to try them forever. Sheer Cover Studio were a brand I'd seen advertised on the TV and when I got sent their Perfect Shade Mineral Foundation* I was just too excited to get stuck into it.

This past week I applied a fake tan - when I'm a little more bronzed on my face I don't like to wear a liquid foundation. This mineral foundation has been such a life saver and has been perfect! Firstly, I love how this little pot has a dispenser attached to it; As this is a loose powder, it could get quite messy without it! The formula is so nice and creamy and I was really surprised when it smoothed nicely over my skin, with the use of my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. I buffed it in and fell in love with the way it blended with my skin, tone even when tanned. I was sent the shade 'light' and as an almost translucent powder, it works well with both my tanned face and my normal pale skin as on the skin it adds a really nice colour. I've become absolutely obsessed with this foundation and find that it is so much better for me than a liquid one. Being so light and yet still so good with coverage, this has become my daily go-to.

Have you ever tried a mineral foundation? You can buy the Sheer Cover Studio Starter Kit here for £29.99 in a mix of different shades.

OOTD | Sunny Brights

Another summery outfit post! Ever since our weekends have started to blossom and the sun has started shining I've been loving being able to whack out the brights and the sunnies. I'm obsessed with these Gingham leggings from Topshop (don't hate me for wearing them as trousers some times) and this bright cami is perfect for the summer days. I also really like that this outfit is easy to transform into a work outfit with a pair of black heels, it's a prefect double whammy! What outfits do you love in the summer time?

Review | Vita Liberata Self Tan* vs Cocoa Brown Selft Tan*

It's March, the sun has finally made a proper appearance and I am beginning to feel incredibly pale. I've never been one to dabble in the huge market that is Fake Tan, but I'm thinking it's about time. My hair has just been dyed darker and against my fairy tale white skin I really am beginning to look like Snow White -except not the all singing princess in the original - think more Lily Collins in 'Mirror Mirror', big brows and all.

A couple of months ago I was generously sent a bottle of Vita Liberata Moment by Moment Tinted Self Tan Mousse* but I was just too scared to go anywhere near the stuff. I just never saw the point in fake tanning and especially around Christmas. Winter is for not having to shave your legs and for hiding all of your paleness under leggings and big woolly jumpers - no room for fake tan there. But now that the sun has decided to make an appearance and my new hair do has left me looking whiter than white, I thought it was about time to give tanning a whirl. Somehow, over the months since receiving that first bottle of fake tan I've managed to acquire a drawer full of tanning lotions and potions. The two I've tried so far have been 'Vita Liberata Moment by Moment Tinted Self Tan Mousse'* and 'Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan Mousse'*, both of which claim to give you a flawless golden glow within 1-3 hours of application and I have to say, I've had mixed reviews.

Vita Liberata Moment by Moment Tinted Self Tan Mousse* - buy here £24.50
I've heard a lot about this brand and have heard a lot of positive comments about their tans, So naturally (when I was over my fear of tanning products) I was excited to trial it and see the golden results for myself. This tan claims to start developing 30 minutes after application and you choose your own colouring by choosing when you shower. To a self tan virgin it sounded like a brilliant idea and with the help of my older sister (the self tan pro that she is) I was taught how to apply the mousse. Thirty minutes (and lots of complaints from Teresa about the packaging later) and I look like I've just been sat in the sun in Barbados for a good couple of hours and then rolled around in some dirt. Not the best analogy, but it's what I felt like.
Scared to leave it on too long and risk looking orange or too dark, I left it an hour before showering it off. This is where the major disappointment comes in. I got out of the shower the exact same shade of pale that I was before applying any of the tan. How did I know? The proof was in the non existent tan lines... I was so annoyed that I'd wasted so much time and effort on it...
The second disappointing thing about this bottle was the packaging. As I said above, my sister couldn't find a good word to say about it apart from the fact that the bottle is sleek and impressive looking (do they count as good adjectives?!). The pump is slow and doesn't make a very good effort at pumping much product out at all. It also comes out quite airy and has lots of air bubbles in - not something you'd expect from a Mousse. It made a massive mess and would leak everywhere even when it wasn't being used (cue an annoyed father yelling at me for brown tan blobs on my cream carpet - sorry dad). The mitt that I was sent was also a bit of a disappointment, Teresa has used a lot of different ones in the past and mentioned that it soaks up a lot of the tanning product - again this isn't something you want out of a tanning mitt. Overall I was very disappointed with this product and honestly, I'm not too keen on using it again. But I'm determined to see the great in it that others see so I'm going to be giving it a second chance soon! I just might be leaving it on for a little longer!

Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Instant Tan by Marissa Carter* - buy here £7.99
This is a brand that I'd never heard much about before becoming a beauty blogger, but is one that I've always secretly wanted to get my hands on and give a go. I think it might be because it comes in the cutest pink packaging though, I'm not going to lie. I was lucky enough to be given it in a goody bag from the #BrizBlogMeet that was organised by the lovely Emily (blog); somebody had obviously heard my wishes! After my first attempt with a 'shower when you want' kind of tan, I was a bit skeptical when I found that this tan was also the same. Nevertheless, I grabbed myself a new mitt (a St Moriz one from Wilkinsons for £3) and started applying with the help of my younger sister, Holly. It applied really nicely and the bottle's pressurised feature was a lot better than the pump on Vita Liberata. The product came out a lot better too, with a much smoother bubble of mousse and no air bubbles in sight! It also was a lot cleaner than the Vita Liberata bottle and unlike that one, didn't make a mess at all and left my dad happy that he didn't have to deep clean my carpet again. I was thoroughly impressed with the packaging as it just made every thing else so much easier.
Just like before, to decide on what colouring you wanted you had to decide how long you wanted to leave it on for. After my mess up last time I thought it would be best to leave it on for a good two hours and see how that worked with this tan. Again, when I showered and stepped out I was a little disappointed, the colour pay off hadn't been what I'd wanted at all - but hey, at least this time I had tan lines! I now had a lightly browned skin and it looked natural, result?! However, A sleep later and the colour had developed really nicely and I'm actually really impressed with the nice tan I now have - minus my novice streaky marks on my legs! Good job it's still too cold to whack the pins out without tights! I definitely prefer this self tan to the other and I'll definitely be trying this out again!

I have mixed emotions on self tanning now, but am determined to find the right tan for me. Have you found any great self tan?

OOTN | Miss Luxe Bodycon Ladder Dress*

This Gorgeous Miss Luxe  Bodycon Ladder Dress* is something that before now, I would never have picked out for myself. I never thought that something so tight and revealing would look good on me or be something that I could 'pull off'. But thanks to the lovely people at Miss Luxe, I now have this beautiful dress that has taken me out of my comfort zone and made me realise that I CAN pull it off. I absolutely love the ladder detailing on this dress and even though it is extremely revealing around the boobies area, it compensates by the capped sleeves. When this dress first arrived I was a little puzzled with how I would wear a bra with it - The simple answer to all of my many hours of internet searching for a kind of bra that doesn't exist, is you don't. There is no way to wear a bra with this thing. Instead, I've opted for the very promiscuous nipple petals and the ever infamous tit tape. It works a charm and everything stays in place nicely. I also love how nicely this dress goes with these amazing platform heels.

Miss Luxe is definitely a brand that I'd go to again. The dress is of really good quality and holds well when washed! The prices are also really reasonable for such great garments.
This beauty of a dress can be bought here for £14.99.

NOTD | Little Duck - Tanya Burr for EyeCandy

I recently wrote a review - here - regarding my first thoughts on Tanya Burr's new nail polish collection for Eye Candy. Since writing that review, I have tried all four shades that I purchased and honestly I have mixed reviews. Overall, I think the collection is great and there is a brilliant range of colours, however I have found that the polishes themselves can vary with consistency. 'Little Duck' (worn above) has got to be my favourite of the four that I purchased, second to that being 'Bright and Early'. I absolutely love the formula of these two as they've been strong colours and have needed just two coats for a good pay-off. The other two, the lighter shades 'Mini Marshmallow' and 'Peaches and Cream' didn't have quite the same effect, they were far too watery and needed quite a few coats for a good result in colour. It's a shame really because honestly, my favourite colours are 'Little Duck' and 'Peaches and Cream' - It's a shame to not have the same consistency throughout all of the polishes. Who knows, I may just have a dodgy pot, but for me, viscosity of a nail polish is it's make or break.

What have you thought about Tanya's range?

Review | Batiste Dry Conditioner*

If there's one thing that the majority of us beauty bloggers agree on, it's that Batiste's Dry Shampoo is the best. I know for a fact that in my stash right now, I have around four or five 200ml bottles and a couple of the mini's floating around. It's not something that I like to run out of. As washing my hair is quite a task and let's face it not something that I need to do more than twice a week, Dry shampoo has become one of my 'can't live without' staples. But what about conditioner? On the day's where I do use dry shampoo, my hair has always lacked the shine and softness from a conditioner.

Enter Batiste.

The brand has done it again - creating a product that is definitely going to become a lot of girls' 'can't live without' staple product. Batiste Dry Conditioner* was sent to me just over a week ago and already it's in my pile for a 'March favourites' video. Having been ill and off work, I didn't bother washing my hair the whole week, save for once, and in this time, this nifty little product gave my hair an extra boost of life on top of the dry shampoo. It aims to smooth fly away hairs and give your mop a conditioning boost and shine when it's in need. Easy to use (the exact same technique as your Dry shampoo) you just spray it all over the hair and brush it through after a minute has passed. I'll definitely be repurchasing this and adding a couple more to my stash when this one runs out. Well done Batiste, you deserve an applause!
You can buy Batiste Dry Conditioner here for £3.99

Have you tried a dry conditioner before?

Review | Argan Secret Shada Shampoo & Souffle*

It's no secret that Argan Oil is amazing for your hair and with so many new brands popping up onto the scene with the coveted oil in their products it can be a tough decision on which to use. I've tried a couple myself, trying to stay away from the pricey Moroccan Oil, but I haven't really seen a massive difference in my general hair care. Until, that is, I was sent the new Argan Secret products* that are now available in Sally's.
I was generously sent two full size products to try and review and was pleasantly surprised by the results.

Argan Secret Shada Shampoo*
This product is an original in the Argan Secret range and claims to be 'fit for an Arabian Princess' - not too shabby then? After using this product, straight away I noticed how soft my hair felt and how glossy it looked. I don't know about you, but nothing says 'good shampoo' to me like a nice shine after my hair has been dried. Aside from the obvious presence of Argan Oil, this shampoo is also rich in hempseed oil and willow bark, which are aimed at nourishing dry and damaged hair and protecting colour - another massive bonus for me as I've just had my hair dyed! This shampoo also smells gorgeous - infact it reminds me of walking through the cluster of scent stalls in the Soukes of Marrakesh. I don't think you can get better authenticity than that in a product claiming to include ingreidents from that very city... Over all I've thoroughly enjoyed using this shampoo and have definitely seen a boost in health and shine to my hair - If you've got a chance to pop down to a Sally's you shouldn't give this product a miss! You can buy Argan Secret Shada Shampoo here for £11.95.

Argan Secret Shada Souffle*
A 'Fabulous Foam with Flexible Hold' - Now I'm not normally one to use styling foams or serums on my hair. I'm a simple kinda gal and usually just wash and dry my locks with maybe a spritz of texturising spray to add a little volume. My hair is far too long for me to style properly on a daily basis and takes an absolute age to dry properly. However, this past week I have used this hair souffle like my life has depended on it and honestly, I don't think I'll be going back to the days of not using product in my hair before drying. Firstly, the bottle design gives this product an A* straight away. I'm a girl who hates aerosol for much more than deoderant, hair spray and of course the necessary dry shampoos and will avoid if at all possible - this nifty bottle comes with a pump design which not only helps the environment, but also make dispensing the foam a hell of a lot easier. I apply 3-4 pumps of the foam throughout the length of my hair, concentrating it on the tips and gently into my roots and then blow dry my hair upside down to get a volumised look. It works really well and has had a much better result on my long locks than any mousse product has before. I absolutely love this new product and will not be stopping it's use any time soon!
You can pick up Argan Secret Shada Souffle here for £12.95.

Have you tried any Argan Secret products before?

OOTD | It's starting to feel a lot like Summer!

Crop Tee - New Look
Joni Jeans - Topshop
Sunglasses - Primark
Vans - Schuh

I absolutely love this combination. The sun is shining and Spring has definitely started. It feels so good to be back in Summery clothes, even if I am still having to cover up a bit more than I'd like (If only the wind would bugger off!). Whacking out these white beauties (one of my many pairs of Joni Jeans) has been lovely, I usually hate wearing them during the winter as it's just too much of a risk but now that the sun has started shining, I couldn't resist! What do you like bringing back out when the sun gets his hat back on and comes out to play?

Benefit | Gimme Brow

It's been on the shelves less than 48 hours and Benefits's 'Gimme Brow' is already quoted to be the fastest selling launch product since the beloved 'They're Real' mascara for the brand. As a massive Benefit fan I just couldn't wait to get my hands on it; I took a trip to Bristol ready for the 'Briz Bloggers Meet' the next day and popped into to Debenhams to get my brows waxed. Embarrassingly early for my appointment, I mooched around for a bit before sitting and having my brows waxed and tinted for the first time as part of their 'Brow Arch March' campaign - For those of you who don't know, it's an amazing campaign where all eyebrow waxes are paid for with a donation to a charity instead of paying the standard £11.50. A brilliant excuse to go and get your brows waxed in March!

I then tottled on over to Boots in Broadmead to the Benefit counter there, as many of you know this is where I held part of my Bristol Bloggers meet and where I met the amazing Benebabe, Ashton. After a little lunch with her, I met her back at the counter and she gave me a makeover (if there's one thing about being friends with a Benebabe it's priority in makeovers). This is where she gave me the lowdown on the amazing 'Gimme Brow'.

I've completely fallen in love with this new brow gem and honestly couldn't go back to just using my Browzings alone. This product really works well on the brows to give them great colour and definition and is very buildable. I start from the inner edger of my brow and brush against the hairs - Yep, you heard me correctly. I first use the fiber gel against my hairs to make sure they're fully covered and then smooth back over going with the grain of my brows. I adore how the gel sticks to the hairs and doesn't just colour in the skin below like many brow products do and also love how you can use it as a stand alone product or use it above BrowZings for a more intense and groomed look. The applicator brush is also the perfect size for brows - Benefit have really thought this through and trumped all over brow gel's out there with this initative!

#BROWARCHMARCH - Myself and Benebabe Ashton rocking the eyebrow stache's.  & Check them brows!!

Brows are a very big deal for Benefit at the moment, so get into your local Benefit Brow bar, have your brows pampered and pick up this brilliant new staple!

Gimme Brow comes in two shades and is available to buy here.

Guest Post | Floral Manicure Nail Art

Hello, there! Before I introduce myself, I just want to say thank you to Beky Lou for having me on her amazing blog as a guest writer! I am so excited to drop by. My name is Mackenzie and I write a little blog called Style Bento. I am currently 17 and freshly graduated from high school(!). My cat, Kitty, is the love of my life and glitter is my favorite color. My passions are beauty, fashion, cooking, and crafting, so Style Bento is where I pack all of my loves into one spot! I am American, but I’m currently living in Japan with my sister, her husband (who’s Japanese), and my niece and nephew while I study the language of the land. Right now, I am expected to be in Japan for 1 year and 3 months… and even though I’m a little homesick (who knew you can’t catch E! News in Japan?!), I am having a blast experimenting with Japanese fashion and beauty- the inspiration is enormous!

One of my favorite things in Japan is the nail art! Seriously, if you aren’t familiar with Japanese nail art, you simply must Google it. Seriously. You must. It’s outrageous! I have yet to go to a salon and pay the spectacularly high prices to get my own digits dressed in such delightful designs, but seeing all of the ladies around Tokyo who sport such fantastic nails inspires me to play around with what I can do myself. So, today I have for you one of my favorite designs that I’ve done so far, even if I do say so myself. The colors and cute little flowers remind a bit of Cath Kidston, which is mighty popular in Japan! And, I don’t know about where you’re reading this from, but in Tokyo, it’s freezing cold and snowing lots (the most snow in over 50 years… or something like that). Whenever I look down at my nails, though, I’m perked right up and reminded of the glorious sunshine and warm breezes that are (hopefully) soon to come!

So, without further ado… here are the simple instructions for my Flirty Floral Manicure.

  1. Start by prepping your nails with a swipe of nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol. This gets rid of any natural oils or lotion that would stop the polish from adhering.
  2. Next, apply a coat of base polish to create an even surface for the pink polish to stick to. This step is totally optional, but I always do it because it helps reduce chipping.
  3. Once the base coat is dry, apply a coat of bright pink polish (you may need to two coats depending on the kind/brand you use).
  4. Using a dotting tool (which you can find online or at any beauty supply store), make the flowers. Use a light pink polish and make 2 or 3 flowers (each flower is 3 to 4 small dots) at the base of each nail, except the ring finger. On that finger, spread the flowers out all over the nail.
  5. Now, with white polish, use the dotting tool to make a white dot in the center of each flower.
  6. With a detailing brush, make a few leaves using green polish.
  7. Now for the final addition to the design, dip the dotting tool into a light blue polish and make a few random dots around the flowers.
  8. Allow everything to dry really well and apply a shiny top coat to seal everything in.

There you have it! Super simple, but oh so cute! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Oh, and I invite you to stop by Style Bento and say hi! I have lots to share and I love making new friends 

xoxo Mackenzie

Review | Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

Shortly after Christmas I gave in to the temptation of the Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette. I was at work one day (a week after starting and still in my induction) and my line manager had to go into a meeting at late notice - this meant that I had nothing to do for about an hour, so I browsed Bloglovin' and checked my emails. And there it was; an email from Debenhams telling me that the Naked 3 was back in stock. Cut to two minutes later and my card was out and the confirmation email of my purchase was on its way to my inbox. I do not regret it.

The Naked 3 Palette has become my go-to eye shadow palette and I use it almost every day. I am absolutely in love with the rose hues and the darker shades are just perfect for emphasising my eye lid crease and my lash lines!

As you can see I just couldn't wait before photographing this beauty. 'Strange' is my every day staple, whether I'm doing a full makeup look or not - it's such a lovely base colour and has even replaced my beloved 'Shroom' by MAC. 'Dust' is my favourite of the rose gold shades, I use this in almost every one of my smokey eye looks as it brings a gorgeous and subtle sparkle my eyes.

For a matte rose-nude I love 'Limit' as it has a great pigmentation and is brilliant for popping on top of 'Strange' for a natural and less worked look. I also love 'Buzz' for the same reason that I love 'Dust' - it's a lovely rose gold shade and works brilliantly with a darker shade such as 'Darkside'.

The darker shadows are some of my favourites; Liar is my all time favourite for the outer corner of a smokey rose-gold infused look. I always apply this before the mid shade ('Buzz' or 'Dust') because it can then be blended easier - a nifty little trick I learnt from the gorgeous Benebabe, Ashton (find her one twitter here). 'Liar' can be really versatile too, which is great for a darker shade. Swept across the corner of the lid, it can look subtly gorgeous, but compacted on it can look just that little bit darker and enhance a look even more.

'Darkside' is a beautiful deep brown shade with (what I think) is a touch of dark purple hidden within. I adore this shade and use it for when I want a look with a little more oomph. It gives a more dramatic edge to the eye and works perfectly in the crease and as a tiny extra in the outer corner on top of 'Liar'. I also love using this on my Eco Tools angled liner brush and packing it along my lower lash line - I think this gives a softer effect than a harsh black kohl liner and works well as it brings the liner and eye shadow together, finishing the look.

Overall I cannot fault this palette - I've never tried one of the Naked Palettes before, but I'm so happy that I lost my Urban Decay virginity with this wonder. The colours are so pigmented and they blend so flawlessly together. I'd love to know which combinations you use.
