New In My Beauty Stash | June

Over the last month I've received a couple of new bits and bought one or two pieces too and as I've been trying them out recently, I thought I'd change things up a bit and publish a new kind of blog post. I feel like I really struggle with monthly 'favourites' posts and so to take some of the pressure away from me a bit (because we all know I haven't been the most consistent with content recently) I decided to do a New In Beauty post.

Starting with the few bits that I actually purchased myself this month I just wanted to say that I actually am on a kind of 'spending ban'. I say 'kind of' because it's not like I'm actually wanting to spend too much at the moment. With Bubba only 3 months away and my working situation now completely changed, I'm just not needing to buy anything. I think I want to write a whole other post on this, because being a mumma-to-be definitely has changed my mindset, but basically I've only been buying bits that I need. Obviously I don't 'need' makeup in anyway, but hey, I am a beauty blogger and I am still obsessed with makeup, I'm just trying to only buy bits that I'm replacing. Recently I've ran out of mascara (I had a big clear out as some of them were so old and dried up) and also my brow products have definitely seen better days. So, because of this and all of the other excuses I've told myself, I purchased the below:

L'Oreal Miss Baby Roll Mascara

I joined the hype big time on this one but with a free eye mask when purchasing the Miss Baby Roll Mascara at Boots, how could I not? I heard a lot of good things about this mascara and a lot of people raved about it before I purchased it and when in need of a new mascara I honestly wasn't too fussed about anything high-end. It was a quick purchase and since I'd heard so much about it I was just naturally drawn to it in the shop. I honestly haven't looked back since either as it literally adds so much volume and length to my lashes within seconds and with minimal effort from me. Within a couple of swipes my lashes are much blacker and appear much longer and thicker and I just love the look this mascara achieves. I do notice a slight curl too with this but honestly it's not the selling point for me with this mascara. I'm shit scared of putting any kind of contraption near my eyes (mascara is literally the only thing I manage) and so using eye lash curlers is a big no-go for me, so I think because of that I don't see the full benefits of the L'Oreal Miss Baby Roll Mascara, but with how big and beautiful they do appear after using this product, it's not a massive deal for me. I genuinely love it and with high street pricing it's definitely a product I wouldn't think twice about repurchasing.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dip Brow Pomade

My first ever purchase of this coveted product, I basically purchased the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade after my friend Beki came to stay and did my brows with hers! She's a makeup artist, so I feel like I'm never going to get the same results as her but I loved it instantly and since my Benefit Browzings palette has dried up and probably should've been thrown away quite a while ago I thought I'd take the plunge and buy it. At £15 I didn't feel too bad at all for purchasing it, for a product loved by so many and one that should last a decent amount of time it was a pretty easy decision for me to come to and I don't regret it one bit. It's so light and easy to use and compared to the wax in my Benefit palette, it's so manageable; I think with it being so light and airy it just makes it so easy to use and to use it precisely. I love the look that this gives to my brows and I literally feel like I just want to gush about this product so much. I'm only a week into using it but I'm literally in love!

Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying Powder

Now, I bought my Urban Decay De-Slick Mattifying powder back when I was working for the Body Shop in December and haven't actually used it since. When working under the L'oreal umbrella I was allowed a really great staff discount and so I bought this product then along with a lot of others and I just haven't used it since. Apart from back in the day when all I used was Rimmel Stay Matte I've never really been much of a powder girl and so I was a little apprehensive as to what this would do for my makeup on the daily but with using it for a couple of weeks now I completely understand the logic behind setting powders now! I use this to set my concealer and also to mattify my more 'shiny' areas. Especially now that the weather is finally getting into shape and we're having much hotter and stickier days here in the UK, the de-slick mattiftying powder is working amazingly to keep the shine at bay! I use this almost every day now and every time I do my makeup (even more so on the hotter days) and I already want to repurchase this and I'm nowhere near finishing it yet!

NYX Brow Mascara

Having recently ran out of my beloved Benefit Gimme Brow, I wanted to repurchase it almost immediately. I still try every now and then to get a bit of product out, but unfortunately it's just dried up and there is no hope for me anymore. At £20 though for such a small tube or product and with the baby thoughts in my brain judging me every time I want to spend money I just couldn't bring myself to do it and instead turned for a cheaper alternative to try. The NYX Tinted Brow Mascara was the first thing that caught my eye and at £6 was nowhere near the alarm bells of Benefit's £20 tube. Not having a NYX counter within half an hour of where I lived I decided to order this online from Boots and pick it up at my local store (which is literally a pharmacy and your basics - sigh), because of this I found picking my shade a little difficult but with a rough idea of what I wanted I finally decided on Chocolate as even though I like my brows dark, my hair is quite light and Espresso just looked a bit too much for me online. I really love using a brow product like this when I'm in a rush or am having a 'no makeup' day, it gives my brows a natural look and tame and yet doesn't take much effort at all; I just simply brush this through my brows and I'm ready to go. The NYX Tinted Brow Mascara honestly didn't impress me as much as I had wanted it to though, with first impressions I was disappointed by the colour, which was so much lighter than it was described and than it looked online and although I know you can't judge shades well through a photo on a website, I did think it would be a bit truer to form. Secondly, it just didn't have the stiffness and hold that my Gimme brow did, nor did it give as much definition to my brows as I had hoped. Yes, I wanted this as a 'no makeup' day product, but I feel like my brows pretty much looked the same as they had without the product on them and I would have liked a little more pigmentation and structure. I definitely feel like the fibres in Gimme Brow played a huge part in me loving the product so much and this NYX Tinted Brow Mascara just isn't the same. It just doesn't even add the tint to my brows as I'd wanted and with it being a tinted mascara, I was hoping it would have at least done this much. This may have been down to me and my shade selection, but honestly once I've used this up, I won't be repurchasing it in a different shade to find out. I'm definitely still on the look out for a Gimme Brow dupe though so please do send across recommendations in the comments if you have any before I give up and go splashing the cash again.

Next up are a couple of products that I've recently been sent to try out and as always I am so grateful to have received these to try out and review, some have been amazing and ones that I've really been loving recently and some are ones I haven't really been that fussed on.

Primark Eye Lash Primer

An Eyelash Primer is not something that I've ever bothered trying before as I saw it as a bit of an uneccessary product to purchase but having tried this one now I have to say I really do like it. I wouldn't say this is a product I'd reach for every day but definitely when I'm wanting my mascara to stay put that little bit longer or even when I'm wanting them to 'pop' a little bit more. This primer is white, which is pretty standard with lash primers from what I can gather having a little google, but when applied to my lashes it doesn't overly cake them in the colour. I genuinely thought this would look awkward underneath my mascara and the white would stick out through the black but that's not been the case at all. After first application it applies a pretty sheer tint of white to the lashes but can definitely be seen to lengthen them and add a little volume to them from the word go. With a sweep of mascara over the top I have definitely noticed a difference compared to normal application and for £2 for this primer from Primark, it's definitely something I would recommend. It works and for something so cheap to do such a good job, it's definitely worth picking up.

Primark PS Pro Face Mask

Not one to shy away from a good ol' pamper, I was pretty excited to try out the Primark PS Pro Face Mask when it popped through my door in a PR package last month. Being pregnant means my skin has been flaring up more than usual and I have been loving face masks in response to this. I've found a few now that really sort my skin out on the weekly, but when they all cost in the region of £16+ or are so fresh you have to keep them in the fridge and use within three weeks, sometimes you just need a budget beauty to keep you in check. The PS Pro Face Mask from Primark is £5 and in my opinion is definitely worth it for a more frequent pampering. At £5 you can't really say no, can you? I've used this a couple of times now and have been really surprised by how well my skin has reacted with it. I've been applying this with my face mask brush (available from the Body Shop) all over my face (something I don't usually do to save on those expensive products) and have to say the consistency is a little weird. It's a lot thinner than most of my clay masks and applies really nicely and although it didn't dry as well as I'd hoped with it being a clay mask, the results in my skin after was definitely worth while. My skin instantly appeared more radiant after removing the mask and within a couple of hours, a lot of the pesky spots hiding in my skin came to the surface. Normally, I hate when this happens, but after a few slack days I could tell my skin was angry so it was good to get them all out and in the open ready for tackling them ready to say good-bye! I can really tell if a mask is any good or not when this happens and Primark have definitely hit the nail on the head with this PS Pro Face Mask. It may not be the best out there, but for £5 it does a pretty good job and I'll definitely be picking this up again in the future. For an every day cleanse and mask, it's really great and I don't feel bad about using it more often than not at all!

Sleek Highlighting Palette

Not usually one for cream highlighters, I have to admit that Sleek definitely know how to build a palette like no other. The new Sleek Distorted Dreams highlighting palette consists of three cream highlights and two powders and with a couple of extremely popular predecessors, understandably there was a lot of hype around this bad boy being released. I was extremely excited to try this out and even though I'm not normally a fan of cream highlighting products, you can't deny Sleek definitely know how to create them. The centre blue cream highlighter is absolutely stunning and even though it's a little more pigmented than I'd like it to be, it looks gorgeous popped in my inner corners for a pop of shine to brighten my eyes. The cream highlighters are so easy to apply and with a Beauty Blender, they blend so naturally into my foundation (even if I've slightly powdered before hand). The two powder shades in the Distorted Dreams palette are also heavenly, they are perfect to apply on top of the cream highlight to give an extra 'pop' of shine and are also really nice on their own. I wouldn't say that in any way they were subtle, but they do sit really nicely on your skin for a natural shimmer, with the capacity to be built up for an amazing glow. As always Sleek have nailed it with their new Distorted Dreams highlighting palette and I have to say this is definitely one of my new daily reaches.

Sleek Matte Me Metallic Lip

Sadly, another not so great review from me on these ones; the Sleek Matte Me Metallic lip products just haven't impressed me as much as I had hoped at all. The three shades they have released are all absolutely stunning, but for me they're just not wearable at all. As I've said many times before, I have always loved Sleek and their products but this time around these Matte Liquid Lips are just not the one. I found that they didn't stay on my lips long at all and as soon as I had been speaking for a while the product just moved around so much and went a bit patchy. As soon as I'd eaten too there just wasn't a lot of product left and I was left with a line around my lips that looked really out of place. I'm not a huge fan of metallic lip products to begin with, but having loved the shade selection they'd brought out, I was dying to make them work. For a festival and a gorgeous pop of shimmery lips, where you don't care too much about having to reapply every now and again, these would be ideal as the colour and pigmentation is just insane (something that Sleek are extremely good at no matter the product) but for everyday wear, I just think these are a little impractical and need too much attention to stay looking good throughout the day. It's a shame really as I really wanted to get on with these, but for me, they just seem like a little too much effort to reapply all the time for them to be worth it. In place of these though, I would 100% recommend the Sleek VIP Lipsticks as the pigmentation and shade range are absolutely insane and the wear really really well too!

What products have you been trying lately? Have there been any stand out hits or misses? I'd love to know your thoughts in the comments!
