John Frieda Clarifying Hair Care

My hair has always been my favourite feature. Since I was 13 years old and chopped it all off to shoulder length, I've been so precious about my locks and pretty much let nobody near them until late last year. I made a huge mistake when I was in year 8 by cutting my hair so short from waist length and so apart from a few trims (we're talking millimeters here) I never touched my hair and let it grow as long as it wanted. By the time I came to making some drastic changes last year, my hair was almost bum length and it was definitely time for a change. I loved my hair more than anything and with it being so thick and long it got me a lot of compliments, however it just started to become a little bit unmanageable. It was too the point where I couldn't ever be bothered to wash it and all I wanted to do was stick it up in a bun on the top of my head and so I decided to go for the chop and change it up. Since then, I've struggled with finding the perfect hair care to keep my hair as nice and luscious as it is when I first stepped out of the salon.

I was recently very kindly sent these bits from John Freida to try out and I've been really happy with the results and how my hair has been feeling. So the first products that I was sent was the John Frieda Beach Blonde Cool Dip Shampoo and Smooth Seas Conditioner, which I was specifically told by the lovely PR that wouldn't affect the colour of my hair, which I wasn't too bothered about anyway as my hair is brunette/blonde ombre but it was really nice to just have that fact reiterated to me before I received them! I have been loving this Beach Blonde Duo and have definitely seen a difference in my hair since I started using them. My scalp has been really tempremental for the last couple of years after being burnt when I was around 15 years old, it wasn't too bad at the time but living with it since has been quite difficult since it just gets super itchy and flakes like there's no tomorrow. It can be really embarrassing and so normally I have to wash my hair with special shampoo once / twice a week to settle it down a bit. In the interest of testing out these new John Frieda bits I actually didn't use my medical shampoo and just used the Cool Dip and Smooth Seas products and I've got to say I've been really impressed with how well they've worked with my head. I feel like they've worked well to not aggravate my skin and for me that's definitely a big factor for when I'm looking at how good a product is for me. Aside from that, my hair feels so much more alive (if that's even a clear description) and it doesn't feel weighed down like it can do with other Conditioners such as ones from Tresemme.

I was also generously sent the John Frieda 7 Day Volume Hair Treatment which I'd never thought to try before. I say I'm a beauty blogger, but honestly, with how lazy I am, I miss out on so many valuable steps / products. I've used this once a week for the last three weeks now and have to say that I do think it's improved the volume in my hair. My hair has always been quite flat before and I've tried many products to try and keep the boost in it but I've never had much luck. Without much hassle, this hair treatment feels like it has given my hair a little more body and unlike many other products that I've tried, I've felt like this one really has kept my hair lifted even after a few days and a second wash in between. I really didn't give this product much of a thought when I first received it if I'm totally honest, purely because of my past experience with volumising products but I have been thoroughly impressed. It's really lightweight and you only have to use 3 or 4 pumps for your whole head which you then leave on for 5 minutes. It's probably the easiest hair treatment I've used too, especially since it comes in a pump!

Lastly I also tried out the John Frieda Volume Refresh Dry Shampoo which has completely changed my mind on volumising shampoos. I've only ever tried the Batiste volume dry shampoos before and as much as I love Batiste, the volume dry shampoos are just a little too powdery for me. I've never really gotten on with them and so for me this John Frieda one is great! It refreshes my hair on the days that I can't be bothered to wash my hair (which is most of the days) and gives it that extra bit of body that makes it seem so much more fresh and alive instead of limp and gross against my head! I've been picking this one up every morning instead of my usual dry shampoos and for me, I think that is the best compliment a product can get because I am normally so stuck in my ways with my favourite products!

I'd never really tried John Frieda products before trialing these for review and I feel like I've missed out on so much. I love the scent, the feel and the overall result of all four of the products that I've tried and will most definitely be popping into my local Boots to check out some more of their collection as I've really been impressed with these products. Have you ever tried any of the John Frieda products before? Let me know in the comments what you're favourite products are so I know what to check out next!
