Review: Real Techniques & Eco Tools Brushes*

I've never really used makeup brushes. I've always thought that they were a waste of money as I could easily apply my foundation with my fingers and all I needed was one for my powder and one for my eyeshadow that I could wash inbetween colours. Boy was I wrong!
Becoming more in-tune with makeup now that I'm older and experimenting more with different brands and different products, I've realised that brushes are more of a staple.
I was recently sent a selection of brushes to try out and let me tell you now, I am NEVER going back to makeup without the use of makeup brushes.

Real Techniques are brushes that everyone in the beauty blogger world has heard of as in all honestly, I'd be lying if I said that I'd never wanted to try one of these bad boys out. The your eyes/enhanced Shading Brush* was the first I tried from the Real Techniques collection, after watching a short tutorial online by Samantha Chapman (makeup artist, beauty blogger and creator of these devine brushes), I decided that the best use of this brush for me would be for accenting and defining my eye makeup within the crease of my lid. I usually use a much larger eyeshadow brush from Topshop for this - only one eyeshadow brush, remember? -  and so using this small brush with hand-cut bristles for 'flawless high definition results' has definitely been a step up in the right direction. I've absolutely fallen in love with this brush and am so glad it's found its way into my life. The your finish/perfected Setting Brush* was the next brush I tried from Real Techniques. At first I wasn't entirely sure what to use this for, even after watching the online tutorial, as I've never really dabbled in highlighting or contouring before. In the end, I settled for using it to lightly sweep a faint pink/neutral blush over my entire face for a bit of extra definition ( a trick I learnt from a lovely lady at a Benefit counter).
All in all I've been turned by these two brushes and I think these two have started a very unhealthy obsession within me for Real Techniques - in fact I've already purchased the 'your eyes/enhanced starter kit'.

Aside from those lovely brushes I was also sent the Tapered Blush Brush* from Eco Tools and I'm finding it difficult to even describe it. It's one of those VERY rare moments where I am genuinely lost for words. It's just so soft. It's like having a fairy gently caress my face - is that too weird?! This brush is the softest thing I've ever felt, the bristles are tapered just right to distribute the perfect amount of blush onto your cheeks. It's such a perfect brush and I will definitely be trying others from this brand.

What are your favourite makeup brushes?
